How to weld wire

According to experts, connection of wires welding method most effectively and technologically. Especially it is relevant for wires of big section which cannot be connected among themselves by other known methods – twist or soldering.

Instruction

1. For connection of wire or wires use one of three types of welding – contact, gas or thermite, and its high quality guarantees you application of gumboils – the special substances removing oxides from working surface and further processing of connection.

2. So to connect aluminum wires with a section from 2.5 to 10 mm2, in the beginning exempt them from isolation approximately on 35-30 mm, smooth out them to gloss, twist and cover with gumboil layer on the site 5-6 mm from the end of twist.

3. Record twist in vertical position by means of clip and press carbon electrode to its ends. Under the influence of tension from the welding machine of 9-12B wire on the end of twist melt and form welded ball. When welding aluminum and copper wires you have to consider that melting temperature of copper is almost twice higher.

4. Before welding around copper vein smooth out the site of 50-60 mm and twist it with the aluminum wire which is smoothed out on 25-30 mm. In the course of welding the copper, and then and aluminum rod will be melted off in the beginning. You can consider welding finished with formation of characteristic metal ball. Gas welding of wires differs from contact only in source of heating and design of coolers.

5. Aluminothermic welding promotes formation of all-metal connection of wires. It is carried out by means of the thermite cartridges representing the pressed mix – the muffle in which there is chill mold – steel tube with continuous or longitudinal slot.

6. For welding insert the ends of the connected wires which are smoothed out on 30-35 mm into thermite cartridge and set fire to it thermite match. When burning the muffle temperature from 3500 to 4000 degrees is created that leads to melting of metal and welding of wires.
