1. Choose suitable time for whitewashing. If your garden is located near the house in which you constantly live, it is recommended to carry out such works as fall, and at the end of winter to update whitewashing. It will allow to save trees from frost cracks and burns of bark. For protection of trees against field rodents it is also necessary to trample down periodically snow near trunks after abundant snowfalls.
2. If your garden site is located far from the place of residence, say, if you live in the city, then use for whitewashing the free days off in the last dates of October, choosing dry weather. The fact is that by rules it is required to put whitewashing at air temperature not lower than 5 degrees and for lack of dampness.
3. Prepare lime mortar of the increased viscosity. For this purpose on ten-liter bucket take 3 kg of svezhegasheny lime or chalk, 100 g of casein glue, 500 g of copper vitriol. Dissolve these ingredients in hot water, and then carefully stir the received solution. The ready for use structure has to have density of sour cream. If necessary dilute too dense mix with warm water.
4. Examine trunks of the trees which are subject to whitewashing. Clear trunks with scraper or wire brush of lichens and moss. Remove dry old bark. If necessary cover cracks with garden putty or the thief.
5. After that start directly whitewashing. For whitewashing use wide paint brush. Put two-three layers of whitewashing, imposing them it is consecutive from roots prior to growth of branches of tree.
6. That autumn rains have not washed away the put whitewashing, envelop the painted part of trunk (shtamb) synthetic cord over which impose polypropylene bags of white color (refuse sacks will approach). Previously cut bags on panels. Such protection does not pass water, but does not obstruct the air traffic. After similar processing even the heavy rain will not damage to whitewashing, and on spring bark will not rot. With arrival of spring remove film and move away her till the next autumn season.
