Special selection has removed the raspberry grades capable to yield harvest twice during the summer: in June-July there passes the first, main wave of fructification, and from the middle of August until the end of fall on bushes large ripe berries flaunt again.
Gaining new properties in the course of selection, remontant raspberry has kept also the former qualities: it remained resistant to diseases and to wreckers, still has high resistance to frosts and droughts. Besides, this type of raspberry has one more positive feature – its bushes give less root young growth and replacement escapes. It means that care for remontant raspberry is considerably facilitated.
Care for remontant raspberry
There is huge variety of grades of the remontant raspberry having different properties: there are grades of early ripening; late; large-fruited; not showered from bushes; red and yellow raspberry. Having studied features and characteristics of grades, the gardener can provide with fresh berries of and the relatives during all summer season. At planting of bushes of remontant raspberry it is necessary to consider features of the site on which it will grow: raspberry does not love the shaded sites and also excessive thickening of escapes therefore for it it is necessary to allocate well lit place and regularly to hold events for thinning of plants to avoid formation of shadow.
