When repair or building at which as finishing material the stone is used begins, often there are situations where it is necessary to fill seams, chips, cracks and to stick together stone parts among themselves. At such moment it is important to know what glue will be suitable for solution.
In most cases apply epoxy glue or polyester mastic to pasting of stone. Their structure differs with properties and method of application. In some situations it is possible to replace one structure with another. Both glues are perfectly polished, and are also tinted by means of special dye for epoxy and polyester glue.
Epoxy glue
This glue consists of the gluing structure and hardener after which mixing in the necessary proportions there is zatverzhivaniye. Completely glue will harden in 1 hour or for one day. It depends on type of the chosen product. It is possible to carry to pluses of this type of epoxy structure:
- easy processing and polish; - possibility of use on damp surface; - operation at various temperature drops; - at the expense of high rate of adhesion and durability they have opportunity to take out heavy loads; - glue it is possible to apply also on damp surface. There are also minuses of the epoxy gluing structure: - high cost of product; - mixing of components has to happen strictly on the enclosed instruction; - the production of glue is limited in several flowers and the range of packing; - long time of curing; - glue can become unsuitable to use at fall of temperature below zero.
Polyester mastic
Quality mastic for stone differs in durability, coupling, hardening speed, percent of shrinkage and polishing. Polyester resin is the main component of mastic of this type. Characteristics of product are affected by properties of fillers and pitch. Main pluses: - quickly dries; - it is easily polished; - affordable price; - wide color range; - various volume of packing; - is suitable for filling of seams, pasting of elements from cellular material. It should be noted also some negative sides of polyester mastics: - shrink; - are suitable for internal works as do not take out heavy load; - the possibility of use on damp surface is absent.
