To choose stone for laying, it is necessary to know what types of this material exist and they are intended for works of a what type. It will help to choose the best foundation, masonry or finishing stone.

1. There are several types of the stones intended for laying: natural, brick for wall construction, blocks for the base device, finishing brick for dressing. The last should be distinguished from popular facing material – artificial stone as they are manufactured of different materials and with use of the technologies differing from each other. To choose the best stone, it is necessary to decide on for what purposes it will be used.
2. For finishing of facades the facing brick is most often used. These products can be different color and have impressive surface (for example, "under chipped stone"). There are several types of this material: ceramic hollow and porous hollow brick, brick of plastic pressing, lime sand brick. The last is the most popular type of stone for finishing laying. It has the big durability and visually attractive plain surface. Advantage of this stone and in its price availability to the private developer.
3. The brick of plastic pressing is the most suitable for laying of columns, smoke pipes, breast walls. The hollow or porous and hollow stone differs in small heat conductivity therefore it can be used for wall construction that allows to reduce their thickness by 20-25%. Therefore for laying of this kind the best choice – hollow or porous and hollow stone. Traditionally in wall construction use ordinary red clay brick. This material needs to be able to be chosen: if its color is closer to bright red, than to orange, you should not buy it because of insufficient roasting. It is not desirable to use in laying and that brick which edges are bent.
4. For mounting of the combined bases it is possible to use either foundation blocks of FBS, or qualitative clay brick. In the first case the laying will be more labor-consuming as the size and weight of cast stones demands use of the special construction equipment. Using brick in construction of the base, it is possible to build the basis by own efforts. In this type of works it is impossible to use silicate products as they have considerably smaller durability.
5. The natural stone in laying is not used. It belongs to finishing materials, and very expensive. Therefore it is applied to dressing of internal rooms or facing of facades of buildings. But at opportunity try to replace with more budgetary material – artificial stone which is imitation natural.
