How to find perimeter, knowing the area of a square

Square - the correct quadrangle at which all parties are equal, and all right angles. Perimeter of a square is called the sum of lengths of all its parties, and the area – the work of two parties or a square of one party. Proceeding from the known ratios, through one parameter it is possible to find another.

Instruction

1. For a square the perimeter (P) is equal to quadruple value of one its party (b). P = 4*b or sum of values of lengths of all its parties of P = b + b + b + b. The area of a square is expressed in the work of two adjacent parties. Find length of one of the parties of a square. If only the area (S) is known to you, take from its value square root a = √S. Further define perimeter.

2. Given: the area of a square is equal to 36 cm². Find figure perimeter. Decision 1. Find the party of a square: b = √S, b = √36 cm², b of =6 cm. Find perimeter: P = 4*b, P = 4*6sm, P = 24 cm. Or P = 6 + 6 + 6 + 6, R = 24 cm. Answer: the perimeter of a square of 36 cm² is equal to 24 cm.

3. It is possible to find square perimeter through the area, without resorting to excess action (calculation of the party). For this purpose use the formula of calculation of perimeter fair only for P square = 4 * √ S.

4. Decision 2. Find square perimeter: P = 4 * √ S, P = 4 * √ 36 cm², P = 24 cm. Answer: the perimeter of a square is equal to 24 cm.

5. Many parameters of this geometrical figure are connected among themselves. Knowing one of them, you will be able to find any other. There are also following formulas of calculation: Diagonal: a² = 2*b², where and – the diagonal, b – the party of a square. Or a²=2S.Радиус inscribed circle: r = b/2 where b is the party. Radius of a circumscribed circle: R = ½*d where d is square diagonal. Diameter of a circumscribed circle: D = f where f is diagonal.
