The translation of number manually from a decimal system in binary demands existence of skill of division by a column. Back translation - from a binary system in decimal - demands use only of addition multiplication, and that on the calculator.
Instruction
1. Take the calculator. Press on it a dumping key, then a key with figure 2, then a multiplication key, then a key with an equal-sign.
2. Near the younger category of binary number write decimal number 1, near the following on seniority - decimal number 2.
3. Press on the calculator a key with an equal-sign once again - 4 will turn out. Write this number near the third in seniority category. Once again press a key with an equal-sign - 8 will turn out. Write the eight near the fourth in seniority category of binary number. Repeat operation until decimal numbers are not written near all categories of binary.
4. Try to remember these numbers at least up to 131072. Believe to learn by heart number 2 degrees in this volume much more simply, than, for example, the multiplication table. In this case, at transfer to the decimal system of small binary numbers you will be able to do at this stage without calculator.
5. And here at the next stage the calculator all the same is required. However, if desired (or if that is demanded by the teacher of fundamentals of computer science) this calculation can be carried out also a column. Put among themselves only those decimal numbers which are written near categories of binary number which value is equal to unit. The required decimal number will be result of such addition.
6. For fixing of skills of manual translation of numbers from a binary system in decimal play the offered didactic game. For it you need the scientific calculator which can be switched to a binary system. Also the virtual calculator which is both in Linux, and in Windows will approach if to switch it to the engineering mode. Let one player will think and will gather decimal number on the calculator, will write down it, and then will switch the calculator to the binary mode. The second player, using only the ordinary (not engineering) calculator, or in general including only a column, has to transfer this number to a decimal system. If he made a transfer correctly, players change roles. If he was mistaken, then let will try once again.
