The jet engine is quite difficult device. For the first time the plane on similar type of engines rose into the sky only in 1939. It was German "Heynkel 178". At the moment similar types of engines are used everywhere. But their device becomes complicated from year to year.
Instruction
1. The jet engine is very simple by the principle of the work. It is necessary that air just got in the engine where would mix up with fuel (as a rule, kerosene is for this purpose used), and then all this would be set fire by a spark. Thus, the reactive stream which sets rockets and planes in motion is created.
2. The case first of all is necessary for creation of the jet engine. In the case there are all main units of the engine. It is the fan which gives air to the engine and also cools it in operating time. After the fan the compressor which creates pressure in order that compressed air got already to the combustion chamber is located. In the combustion chamber air already mixes up with fuel, and then there is a directed explosion through a spark that the reactive stream turned out. In something this design reminds the carburetor from the car. Then the reactive stream from the combustion chamber goes to the turbine of the jet engine. The turbine is made of several hundred small "shovels" and a shaft to which the fan and the compressor are attached. When the reactive stream gets on the turbine, all system starts moving. Thus, only constant supply of fuel is necessary for operation of the jet engine.
3. The last detail of a design of this type of the engine is the nozzle. The nozzle already creates that reactive stream which sets the plane in motion. It consists of the hot mix which got from the combustion chamber via the turbine to a nozzle and also the cold air given via the fan which passed through internal compartments of the engine for its cooling before.
4. Jet engines are divided on several categories. There are classical, turbo-propeller and turbofan jet engines.
