Soot is used quite widely, production of varnishes and enamels does not do without it. In polygraphy soot is applied to preparation of black printing paint, transfer paper. Quite often soot is required at production of cosmetics, a make-up, shoe cream. What ways of receiving soot exist and whether it is possible to prepare it independently?

1. At the organization of industrial receiving soot use thermal decomposition of the burning raw materials in lack of air or at its limited quantity. For this purpose the special furnace supplied with torches is required. In a flame soot which some short time is in a zone of high temperature together with gaseous products is formed. Mix of gases is cooled, and soot separates from this mix in the special device.
2. At the second way use torches with a narrow crack. The flat flame of the burning raw materials makes contact with a moving metal surface. At the same time it is required to sustain the minimum time of contact of a flame with metal. The soot besieged on metal should be removed quickly mechanically. In two described industrial ways as the initial product which is exposed to burning natural gas, oil pyrolysis gas or oil is used.
3. If the ways of receiving soot applied in the industry are inaccessible to you and you are not interested in large scales of production, use the soot which is formed in heating systems of baths, houses, dachas or cottages for the purposes. The fact is that at a fire chamber of furnaces and fireplaces in flues a number of so-called oven soot is formed over time. Remove soot drips by means of the metal scraper or "brush" manufactured of a rigid steel wire. Collect material in the small capacity (jar, a tray) and use for designated purpose.
4. In the absence of the furnace or a fireplace receive soot in living conditions, having taken the lamp or an icon lamp using oil or kerosene (as a last resort, use a usual candle). Pull out a match outside approximately on half-centimeter. Light a lamp and suspend over it on a long wire a metal plate about 100х100 mm in size. The flame of a lamp has to concern a plate. In 10-15 minutes remove a plate and a knife or a scraper scratch out the accumulated soot from a plate. Repeat operation several times, yet you will not gain the required quantity of a product.
