How to count efficiency

How to count efficiency

Efficiency (efficiency) – the dimensionless size characterizing overall performance. Work is force influencing process for some time. Energy is spent for action of force. Energy invests in force, force is put in work, work is characterized by effectiveness.

Instruction

1. Calculation of efficiency begins with definition of the energy spent directly for achievement of result. It can be expressed in units necessary for achievement of result of energy, force, work, power. Not to be mistaken, it is useful to keep the following scheme in mind. The simplest system includes four elements: "working tool", power source, governing bodies, ways and elements of carrying out and transformation of energy. The energy spent for achievement of result is the energy spent only by "the working tool".

2. Further you define the energy which is really spent by all system in the course of achievement of result. That is not only "the working tool", but also governing bodies, energy converters and also it is necessary to refer the energy disseminated in ways of carrying out energy to expenses.

3. And further you count efficiency on a formula: Efficiency = (And / C) *100%, a gdea – the energy necessary on achievement of results – the energy which is really spent by a system for achievement of results. For example: 100 kW were spent for carrying out electrotool works, at the same time all power supply system of the shop during this time consumed 120 kW. System efficiency (power supply systems of the shop) in this case will be equal to 100 kW / 120 kW = 0.83*100% = 83%.
