If engine capacity fell, and check of the carburetor and ignition system did not lead to anything, it is necessary to measure extent of compression (compression) in cylinders of this engine. The low compression can be caused by violation in tightness of a threaded hole for spark plugs, defects in spark plugs, defects of the gas-distributing mechanism and sealing rings of pistons of the engine. To define because of what the compression fell in cylinders it is possible in rather simple ways.

Instruction
1. Before check replace all candles in engine cylinders with obviously serviceable. Start the engine. If power level remained at the previous, low level, turn off all spark plugs. Twist instead of a spark plug kompressometr in a head of 1 cylinder. You twist the starter the engine crankshaft within 5 – 7 seconds. Read out the indication of size of a compression from a device scale. The normal engine it has to have over 10 atmospheres. In the same way check a compression in all cylinders. It should not differ more than on a half of the atmosphere.
2. Attention! Before check completely charge the accumulator. Also make sure of full serviceability of the starter in the car engine. Not completed charging accumulator or the faulty starter can distort results of check.
3. If after this check you find one cylinder with the lowered compression, fill in 100 grams of engine oil in a cylinder. Then repeat check. If the compression did not change, so it is necessary to check the valve of the gas-distributing mechanism in this cylinder. For this purpose turn off the block of heads of cylinders. In passing check integrity of laying between a case and the block of heads. Serially take out the valve from their saddles and visually check a ring of contact of the valve with its saddle. If a contact ring already of 1.5 mm, it is necessary to grind in the valve to a saddle. At strong wear or damage of the valve or a saddle replace them.
4. If the contact spot, so and tightness of the closed valve are normal, establish a head on an engine case with new laying. Check a compression. At preservation of a low compression in a defective cylinder give a head on check to a workshop – perhaps in it the crack because of which there is no necessary extent of compression in this cylinder was formed.
5. If after check with filling of 100 grams of oil in a cylinder the compression changed upward, means not as it should be sealing rings of the piston of a defective cylinder. It can be the increased wear or breakage of one of these rings. In that case repair of piston group of the engine is required.
