Many electric devices are calculated on a certain (maximum) value of current. If current exceeds permissible value, then such equipment can fail. To lower current there are several simple ways consisting in consecutive connection with loading of active or passive (ballast) resistance.

Instruction
1. For decrease in charging current during the simplest charging rectifier charger of the automobile accumulator connect consistently with a charge chain an automobile lamp which will play a role of ballast resistance. For this purpose solder two wires to lamp conclusions, then disconnect any wire going to the charger from the accumulator. In a rupture of a chain connect a lamp by means of the wires soldered to it. Connecting lamps, different in power, in a rupture of a chain, change the charging current of the accumulator flowing in a chain.
2. For decrease in welding current at electric welding with use of the simplest welding transformer which is not incorporating any control devices connect consistently in a chain of low voltage the special welding ballast resistor which is the metal spiral made of material with a high specific resistance. Disconnect from the terminal of the welding transformer a welding wire with the holder of an electrode. Connect one conclusion of ballast resistance to the same conclusion of the welding transformer.
3. Now, inserting the end of a wire with the holder of electrodes between rounds of welding ballast, change the general resistance of a welding chain, so and size of welding current. For reduction of welding current move the terminal with a wire of the holder of electrodes aside, opposite to the ballast resistor connected to the welding transformer to a conclusion.
