1. To transfer billions to millions, just increase the number of billions by one thousand. In the form of a formula it looks as follows: Kmln = Kmlrd * 1000, gdekmln – the number of millions, Kmlrd – the number of billions. So, for example, if to accept quantity of all people on the earth to equal seven billion (approximately), then in millions it will turn out: 7 * 1000 = 7000 million (people).
2. If the number of billions - whole, then for the translation it in millions just attribute to it three zero on the right. That is, the above-stated example could be solved in the following way: 7 billion – we attribute three zero – we receive 7000 million.
3. If big whole (ten-digit, and more) the number is written down without indication of unit of measure (one billion), then for the translation it in millions just reject six last figures. If all these six figures not zero, then the number a little less initial as a result turns out. However the error of such transformation will not exceed one tenth percent and is quite suitable for approximate calculations. So, for example, the volume of the earth is equal to 1083207300000 km³. To transfer this number to millions, we reject six last figures (300000) and we receive 1083207 million (kilometers cubic).
4. In case the number of billions is specified in the form of decimal fraction, then for transfer to millions move a decimal comma on three signs to the right. If the number of decimal figures after a comma less than three, add missing number with zero. So, for example, scientists established that life on Earth was formed about 3.5 billion years ago. Respectively, in millions this time span will look as 3500 (millions of years).
5. If the large number is written down in an indicative (exponential) form, then for the translation it in millions reduce value of its indicator (number 10 degrees) by 6. So, for example, Earth and other planets of the Solar system were formed 4.54e9 (4.54*10^9) years back. Means in millions years ago this historical event can be written down in the following form: 4.54e3 (4.54*10^3). Or it is even simpler – 4540 million (years).
