Africa represents the second in area continent of the planet, conceding by the territory size only to Eurasia. From the North it is washed by the Mediterranean Sea, from the northeast – the Red Sea, and from other parties – Atlantic and Indian oceans. 1. Neil is not only the longest river of the continent, but the second around the world – its extent of 6,852 kilometers from the South on the North. 3. Other large rivers of the continent is also the following – Niger in the west of Africa, Congo and Zambezi in the central part of the continent and also Limpopo and Orange in the south of the continent.

4. Length of the first river is 4,180 kilometers, and the area of the basin of Niger – 2.117 million square kilometers. The river originates on slopes of the Leono-Liberiysky height in Guinea, then it proceeds across the territory of Mali, Niger, near border with Benin, Nigeria on the ground then flows into the Gulf of Guinea of the Atlantic Ocean. The largest inflow of Niger is the smaller Benue River.

5. The most part of waters of Congo proceeds in the central part of Africa and in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (in some places near border of the Republics of Congo and Angola). The notability of this river is that it crosses the equator two times. The area of the basin of Congo – 4.014 million square kilometers, and originates it in the settlement under the name Mumena.

6. Zambezi is the fourth longest African river (2,574 kilometers) with an area of pool of 1.57 million square kilometers. It takes the source in the state of the same name, then proceeds across the territory of the following states – Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique then joins the Indian Ocean. On the Zambezi Current there are also the well-known Victoria Falls.

7. Limpopo, or "the crocodile river", proceeds south of Pretoria from the depths of mountains Witwatersrand at the height of 1,800 meters. Its extent – 1,750 kilometers with the further mouth in the Indian Ocean (it is a little to the north from the gulf Delagoa).
