First of all find as much as possible information on that place where the appointment has to take place: the exact address, detailed arrangement, the location map and how to reach the meeting place. Find out on what transport it is possible to reach whether changes will be required, and just in case, calculate the sum which you should spend for a route.
2. Then whenever possible pass a route to the destination in advance, thanks to it you will be able to learn about possible difficulties in way. Besides, define the approximate time spent on the way. If you plan to go to an appointment on the car, in advance learn about places of the parking. If you reach on public transport, define convenient exits from the subway or a way from a stop of land transport.
3. Consider that in big cities with a rich life, constant traffic jams and unpredictable situations, it is always better to make secure against delay. If you have no time to pass a route in advance, use information systems, for example the Googl or Yandex cards, counting approximate time from one point to another and add to it 30-50 minutes on different surprises.
4. Consider day of the week which is chosen for an appointment. It is important as public transport goes to the weekend less often, and on weekdays you can get to a stopper, especially in rush hour.
5. Learn whether there is near the meeting place any cafe or an institution where you could spend time if you arrive earlier. It being necessary to wait for the fixed time on the street, it will not be comfortable, especially, if it is going to rain.
6. Before a meeting surely prepare, what you will put on. If you want, you can have a bite. But do not postpone anything from the above-mentioned finally, and then you will precisely keep the appointment in time.
