Imagination forms

Imagination forms

The imagination is a figurative submission of information which always conceals in itself something irreal, not taking place in the true reality. The imagination takes the mass of the forms, from the most approximate to realities – planning, to the most irreal – a dream. In the course of imagination thinking, memory, the analysis and also a way of perception of the world participates.

Types of imagination

There are five main forms of imagination in psychology:

  • dream – a transformation image in the future which has no exact date of implementation;
  • imagination – reflection of reality in modified shape;
  • hallucination – the image endured by us without external stimulation;
  • dreams – representation of the inaccessible and unrealizable future;
  • dreams – unconscious visualization of desires.

Except the called imagination forms, there is one more seldom mentioned look – thought experiment.

Its main feature is a thought process during which the person represents reflection of reality in the future. For example, this type of activity was used by Karl Marx when that claimed that communism is viable only on condition of its formation worldwide.

The dream as form of imagination is represented, a real opportunity which has no date of performance. From reality to a dream we are separated only by existence of will, determination, actions, commitment and confidence in the correctness.

Images in imagination

The imagination generates the images in three ways:

  1. Agglutination – an imagination form in which the images which are not found in reality are combined. For example, agglutination is an image of the mermaid in which the woman (the person and a trunk), fish (tail) and seaweed (hair) is combined. This method is used as in creativity, and unconsciously, in our dreams.
  2. Emphasis – underlining something separate in image.
  3. Typification – combinations in one image of people of traits of character, typical for this era / circle.
