Verbal and nonverbal communication

Communication between people can be verbal (speech) and nonverbal (nonverbal). Daily the person talks to many people, using for this purpose both options. By means of words everyone can ask something, express the opinion, agree, argue, etc. The speech helps the person to share knowledge, to tell about the thoughts, to strike up acquaintances, to come into contacts, etc. But all this is followed by nonverbal communication which, according to many psychologists, needs to pay special attention. Treat this option of communication: pose, mimicry, intonation, gestures, look, etc.

Detailed information

Verbal and nonverbal language of communication exist together and help to be expressed not only verbally, and and emotionally. Each people on the earth have the certain gestures which in different cultures can designate absolutely opposite things. But, despite this, they can be divided into several groups which express a greeting, the ban, mistrust, approval or insult. It is also possible to allocate:

  • the illustrating gestures are instructions, starting signals, etc.;
  • the regulating gestures are nods, moves the head, etc.;
  • gestures emblems are the compressed hands designating a greeting, etc.;
  • the adapting gestures are a prikasaniye, strokings, shuffle of objects, etc.;
  • gestures-affektory – express emotions;
  • micro gestures – face reddening, twitching of lips, etc.

One more significant means of verbal and nonverbal communication – a mimicry. Thanks to it the person kind of confirms or disproves the told words. Psychologists claim that when you do not see the face of the interlocutor, you lose up to 15% of necessary information. In this case it will be appropriate to remember communication option so popular today – social networks, a chat, etc. Very often written word can bear absolutely different information, and everything because you did not see a mimicry of the person who wrote it. It helps to express an emotional state, for example, joy, anger, disappointment, etc.

Besides verbal and nonverbal ways of communication have to consider a pose of the person. For example, when your interlocutor during the conversation crosses hands or legs, it can demonstrate that he tries to be closed from you as simply does not trust or is afraid. Thus, if to pay attention to a pose of the person, then it is possible to find a lot of hidden information.

Special attention needs to be paid to a look, it is different:

  1. If the look is fixed near a forehead of the interlocutor, then it means a serious conversation and is called business.
  2. If the look of the interlocutor is located between the line of eyes and lips, then such option is called secular.
  3. If the look of the interlocutor stopped in a zone of a breast, neck or lips, then, most likely, it means sexual interest and is called intimate.
  4. If the interlocutor looks at you askance, then it means that he it is suspicious to treat you.

Even considering considerable difference of verbal and nonverbal communication, it is possible to draw a conclusion that the person will not be able to receive all necessary and desirable if he uses only one of options. How to be told, some gestures it is impossible to express all information, and words without mimicry and gestures are absolutely mere.

Psychologists claim what at acquaintance of people most of all pays attention to nonverbal communication and if, for example, the mimicry does not suit it, then that the interlocutor did not tell, for it it will be already unimportant.
