Ferrari tested the "illegal" disks Mercedes

The Ferrari team brought on winter tests of "Formula One" in Barcelona the new design of rims which are very similar to disputable design of back rims which were used by Mercedes in last season.

The new decision was tested for the second day of tests when the new rim of the wheel had the number of the lifted sections for control of temperature in the wheel.

The design has to take away heat from the tire, providing relative uniformity of distribution of heat in rubber - reducing the level of thermal degradation of tires.

Presented to Mercedes the version of disks last year on the Grand Prix of Belgium as during this period ""Silver arrows"" had very big problems with wear of tires.

However after emergence of these disks in the remained races of last season the team could gain six victories which were won including at the expense of new disks.

The Ferrari team decided to test similar disks too in attempt to solve problems of loss of heat in back tires and to operate the level of wear and the puzyreniye because of high temperatures.

In comparison with design of Mercedes the disks Ferrari have more lifted sections at the expense of which designers hope, the desirable effect of management of heat will be able to be increased.

The McLaren team also tested similar wheels to this week, having in addition covered them with black thermal paint for minimization of the pass of heat to tires.

So far it is unknown whether will go in team by Mercedes, in the wheel of the last openings for minimization of transfer of temperature from brakes were also used. Their design also has the number of the small openings conducting from the strut to the wheel rim that has to facilitate passing of air for cooling of the wheel.

On Wednesday several teams carry out aerodynamic tests with use of aero sensors for the analysis of designs of disks in the real world. Now it will be necessary to compare track data with figures which were obtained by means of the aerodynamic tunnel and testing by the CFD methods.

Mercedes and Red Bull used "the bird's cage" from Pitot's tubes - the widespread device for Friday the practician before Gran Pri - for determination of pressure of the stream around certain components. It is necessary in order that the air flow worked, as well as it was supposed that teams could make changes to any konstuktion if there are discrepancies.

The Ferrari team also attached to the back rear wing big sensors in the form of the tower which controlled pressure too and provided data on area directly around this section of the race car that will define efficiency of aerodynamics of the back part.

Toro Rosso released the race car with sensors too, but this time around the nose and face plates of the front rear wing that provided monitoring of changes of aerodynamics in this part of the race car.
