Yorkshire terrier – one of the most popular breeds of decorative dogs. These doggies have the bright and memorable appearance, but owners can cut differently the favourites therefore they sometimes can be confused with other small breeds.

Instruction

1. Pay attention to the size of a dog. A Yorkshire terrier – one of the smallest breeds. The weight of an adult dog should not exceed 3.1 kg, growth in withers can be no more than 23 cm. The Yorkshire terrier has a compact and graceful constitution. Despite the tiny size, representatives of this breed often have important gait and is emphasized with a pride bearing.

2. The Yorkshire terrier treats long-haired breeds. Long wool is divided into a hair parting from a nose to a tip of a tail and evenly falls down direct locks on each side. On the structure, wool is similar to human hair. Yorkshire terriers have no underfur, hairs soft and smooth to the touch, and at due leaving also brilliant. These dogs do not fade. Thanks to features of the wool, Yorkshire terriers practically do not cause allergies.

3. The uniform color is characteristic of this breed. Wool on the head has to be saturated golden-brown color, we will also allow a reddish shade. From a neck to a tail the Yorkshire terrier has wool of a black or dark bluish and steel shade. On a breast of such dog it is possible to see a shirtfront of a henna-red shade. All brownish hair they have various intensity of coloring on length, at roots the most dark, and to tips gradually brighten. At exhibition dogs wool reaches a floor. The animals who are not participating in exhibitions are cut, as a rule, more or less shortly. Long "bang" of Yorkshire terriers is often taken away in a small tail on the top which is fastened with an elastic band or a hairpin.

4. At Yorkshire terriers the little and accurate head with the small pointed ears which are covered with short and dense wool. A black nose, a visible eyelid skin – dark. Dark eyes, average size, not convex. The Yorkshire terriers possessing a muzzle like "baby face" are popular. Big eyes and the shortened front part of a skull are characteristic of such dogs. These lines give to a muzzle the naive, childly surprised expression.

5. At Yorkshire terriers strong direct paws with black claws. The tail till 2003 was stopped at exhibition dogs. Now it is not the mandatory requirement therefore Yorkshire terriers with the long tail covered with wool of dark gray-blue color prevail.

6. Yorkshire terriers have remarkable character. Despite the tiny size, these dogs differ in curiosity, courage and indefatigability. They are friendly to children, strangers and other dogs.
