Favourites of residents of country houses and townhouses in the green space - wild proteins at all not a rarity for Russia. The area of dwelling of these animals is very wide, however squirrels live absolutely not for long.
Native habitat
Squirrels live mainly in the coniferous and broad-leaved forests, the mixed forests, in a taiga. Often they can be met in the urban green space. The squirrel lives in a natural environment three-four years. Mortality among the young growth which did not endure winter is especially high.
Squirrels are prolific, in a year the female two-three times brings posterity provided that lives in warm southern latitudes. On the server the squirrels breed only once in 12 months. As a rule, from two to eleven baby squirrels are born. Cubs are born helpless, they are blind and deprived of a woolen cover therefore the first weeks of life entirely depend on mother who warms them and brings up milk. In a month the cubs get stronger, begin to see clearly and begin to show huge curiosity, more often looking out of a nest. At the age of two months the baby squirrels already become independent. Males of squirrels of a poligamna and in education of posterity of participation do not accept.
When in the forest there is a small harvest of nuts and cones, red small animals migrate, getting off in big packs.
In the nature at squirrels there are a lot of rivals who have the same diet, as proteins. Generally it is about rodents - voles, chipmunks, - bears, sables and small foxes and also about birds - crossbills and woodpeckers. However, some of them are useful, for example, crossbills dump massive cones from which it is simpler to proteins to get nuts from trees, and in abandoned hollows of woodpeckers of a female arrange nests.
Squirrels often perish from claws of predators, wildfires, diseases, hunger and a frost. It is, perhaps, the main reason for small life expectancy of these small animals.
Proteins in reserves
Squirrels live in bondage for nine-twelve years. Cases when some lived even up to sixteen years are known. But so long the squirrel lives in bondage only if are available for it suitable for that condition: healthy food, is enough movement, the cozy nest shelter. Usually it has on some nests at once and lives in all serially, with frequency in two-three days. A squirrel - a small animal active, her the movement is important therefore in zoos and wildlife areas of these animals do not contain neither in cages, nor in open-air cages. Protein livelihood even in bondage gets itself, however zoologists leave necessary amount of minerals and vitamins for small animals in special feeding troughs. Squirrels well adapt to people, becoming almost manual. Researches, by the way, showed that productive communication with the person prolongs life to this animal by few years.
