The Krasnoukhy turtle is a reptile of family the American freshwater skulls. In the wild nature they have the greatest distribution in the territory of the USA. Keeping of these turtles in house conditions not such difficult. Special attention at care for them needs to be paid to food, water and a microclimate.

1. If you decided to get a krasnoukhy turtle, you have to know features of her behavior and also the rule of treatment of her. At change of conditions of stay these turtles need time for acclimatization. During this period they, as a rule, disappear in the armor. After a while they will begin to eat freely, the initial fear will also be gone. However you remember that the krasnoukhy turtle can bite rather painfully. It occurs when she feels fear. If you pick up a turtle to transfer her or just to make out, be careful, you hold her strong, both hands. Do not allow falling of an animal even from small height, traumatized can be deadly. Do not take a turtle dirty hands, wash them before and after that as you will touch her.
2. As housing for a turtle you can get a glass aquarium or a plastic container, the small children's bathtub will be suitable for the same purposes. Remember that the turtle will grow therefore it is desirable to think over the sizes of her dwelling in advance. It is better if it is initially intended for an adult individual. Track that the volume of a container was not less than 55 l. The container has to contain an artificial reservoir and also the land prepared, for example, from gravel. The area of sushi has to be sufficient in order that the turtle could settle down on it, having completely left water. Try to close also an aquarium a cover not to allow escape of an animal.
3. Keeping of a krasnoukhy turtle demands maintenance of a special microclimate. You watch that air temperature remained at level 24oC. For maintenance of such temperature you can use, for example, the heater or an infrared lamp. Provide also receipt to a turtle of enough light. Do not leave a container under direct sunshine at all, it can lead to overheating, do not allow excess of optimum temperature (24 wasps). You can replace sunlight with an ultra-violet lamp. In that case you need to provide independently cycles of day and night, switching on and off a lamp in certain time.
4. Keeping of a krasnoukhy turtle does extremely important care for a condition of water in which she lives. Maintain its temperature in range from 24 to 30 wasps. Do not allow temperature drop below this range, it can negatively affect health of an animal. Water is the good environment for reproduction of various bacteria therefore it is important to maintain its purity. Regularly change water in a container, surely apply a dekhlorator if you use tap water. Completely change water and contents of an aquarium, at least every two months. For maintenance of purity of water you can also use special filters.
5. Food of krasnoukhy turtles depends on their age. Cubs of these reptiles eat only vegetable food, adult individuals, as a rule, are omnivorous. Try to use also a separate container for their feeding if it is possible, after meal it will be rather dirty. Food has to be balanced, do not use exclusively purchased forage for their feeding, it has to make no more than 25% of their diet, give them the same amount of proteins (worms, moths, etc.). Besides, vegetable food has to make not less than a half of their diet, it can be vegetables and fruit without seeds and stones. Surely use the special additives containing vitamins. Add them to food two of times a week.
