Skalyariya – some of the most beautiful aquarium fishes. They are rather widespread and at due leaving are ordinary in contents. Cultivation of skalyariya does not represent special complexity.
Conditions for cultivation
Cultivation a sunbed will demand installation of rather big aquarium. It is necessary that fishes felt safe. Use of small tanks reduces the probability of successful cultivation. Pick up a high aquarium of 70 - 100 l.
Pay attention that skalyariya usually live in soft water, you need to watch its acidity. To create the necessary conditions, you can use the special filter of a reverse osmosis for an aquarium. Do not try to use chemical reagents for giving to water of the necessary properties, it can ruin inhabitants of an aquarium. Try to observe the water temperature from 22 to 27 degrees, necessary for comfortable reproduction of skalyariya.
That reproduction of skalyariya was effective, try to feed them 2 – 3 times a day. Fill a small amount of a special dry feed in an aquarium and leave it for 5 minutes. After this time remove all remains of a forage.
Males and females
For reproduction of skalyariya you need to place in an aquarium two individuals – a male and a female, place other representatives of these fishes in a separate aquarium. If fishes are very young, it will be almost impossible to define their sex, distinctions appear only over time, wait for this moment. There is a set of ways to distinguish a male and a female. For example, the back fin of a male, as a rule, is slightly longer, than at a female, besides, to us it there are more strips. It is more female of skalyariya by the size, this sign is one of the most indicative. Pay also attention to the head of skalyariya. At females it has smooth, sometimes a concave form while at males some camber in a frontal part is observed. If you do not wish to understand features of the structure of these fishes, you can buy couple of male and female for their cultivation in advance.
Reproduction
Having placed couple of skalyariya in a separate aquarium, you need to create necessary conditions for their reproduction. The posterity at these fishes can appear within several days, however, perhaps that expectation will drag on for weeks. You feed them more often during this period. Try to watch closely that the acidity of water was normal. Ideally ph of aquarian water for these fishes makes 6.7 – 6.9. Try to keep it in range of 5 - 8, at least. If the chosen couple of fishes does not bring posterity, again place their general aquarium and you watch closely their behavior. Over time you will find formation of couples which constantly will float nearby from each other. Place this couple separately and wait for reproduction.
Posterity
Skalyariya are very attentive to own posterity therefore there is no need to interfere with process of care for it. Moreover, the excessive attention can provoke fishes to the fact that they will eat whitebaits. Try to feed fishes that they did not feel hunger. If all of you find eating of posterity, it will be necessary to move it to separate capacity and to watch them independently. At first for this purpose enough banks of one liter, the filled filtered water. Try to keep to bank in the dark place. As soon as whitebaits begin to swim independently, place them in larger vessel (about 10 liters) and look after them, as adult individuals.
