1. It is impossible to wash gerbils in water as they badly transfer humidity and can quickly ache. If the hair of your favourite looks carelessly and ceased to shine, arrange for him a sand bathtub. The small animal will bathe with great pleasure in sand, and its skin will become clean again and will begin to shine.

2. Buy in pet-shop special sand for chinchillas. Fill it in a small bowl and put in a cage to gerbils. In 30-40 minutes the capacity needs to be removed. If to leave sand for longer time, rodents will use it as a toilet.

3. Put a bowl with sand not less than two times a week. It will allow to keep leather and animal fur in good condition. Gradually remove the polluted sand, and on its place fill up clean.

4. Those gerbils which do not want to bathe independently accurately rub with sand or talc. In extreme cases the hair can be moistened slightly with warm water from a spray, you only watch that water did not get into eyes and the favourite's ears.

5. If the gerbil was strongly soiled and the sand bathtub does not help, accurately wipe the polluted hair with a damp rag or the wetted cotton pad, and after do not forget to dry up carefully a small animal by means of a terry towel.
