1. Be open for a conversation. Show to the child that his life, a hobby, an environment are really interesting to you. The teenager especially needs attention to his hobbies and aspirations. 2. Try to take active part in out-of-school life of the child. If he goes to sports section, dancing studio or is keen on backpackings, find time to be present at trainings, advise how to achieve success in the chosen direction, support the child at competitions, be aware of all novelties of his hobby.
3. Practice policy of "open doors" at your place. Let the child will be sure that he can always invite on a visit friends even in the presence of parents — you will not interfere with each other at all. Try to make friends with its environment. The main thing, do it sincerely.
4. Never criticize the child publicly. At teenage age he takes the failures painfully. It is also not necessary to hold up to it as an example the elder brother or the sister, children of the acquaintances. The teenager has constantly complex concerning the shortcomings therefore to him it is so important that you loved it and was proud of it of it what it is.
5. Learn also to trust the child. You share with him own problems and experiences more often. Then he will feel that his opinion is really appreciated and respect, and it will be much simpler to it to reveal before you in a problem situation.
