Childbirth extremely seldom proceeds without serious consequences, they are always connected with sufferings. Some women, having had been through a lot during first labor, with horror expect the second. But in most cases fears are vain.
In general it is possible to tell that a talk about terrible sufferings which are allegedly experienced by women in labor is strongly exaggerated. Degree of sufferings is directly proportional to degree of an oslozhnennost of childbirth. If childbirth takes place safely, pain is quite tolerant. The complications increasing sufferings of the woman can arise also at first labor, and at repeated. If also those, and other childbirth proceeds without complications, then repeated childbirth in most cases is less heavy, than the first. To that there are two sorts of the reasons – physiological and psychological.
Physiological reasons
At the primipara woman the neck of the uterus prior to the beginning of labor pains "is sealed" quite densely – it yet never revealed therefore its disclosure demands considerable efforts and time. At a povtornorodyashchy muscle of a neck of the uterus once already stretched therefore on disclosure leaves much less than both efforts, and time. Thanks to it the period of fights – the most long part of process of childbirth – at the second childbirth is shorter, at primipara they last 10-12 hours, at povtornorodyashchy – 8-10.
Passes at povtornorodyashchy and exile of a fruit (potuzhny stage) easier. Perhaps, the most painful moment of childbirth is a divergence of bones of a basin at eruption of a head of a fruit. In most cases the woman's basin after first labor does not become former any more. It can upset the woman, causing change of a figure, but at repeated childbirth reduces her sufferings significantly.
Psychological reasons
Degree of feeling of pain in many respects is defined by psychological, emotional state of the person. Sensation of fear considerably strengthens pain. The scared person, sure that "it will be sore now", is capable to feel pain even in case the real reasons for pain are not, it is proved in numerous experiments. The fear which the primipara woman can feel is in many respects the fear of uncertainty aggravated with a talk about sufferings of women in labor which she for certain heard. Quite often business is aggravated with existence in its immediate environment of people (as a rule, women) who derive pleasure, telling "terrifying stories" about childbirth in the presence of pregnant women. Criticality of thinking at pregnancy can decrease, and such talk adjusts the woman on fear of childbirth. At repeated childbirth there is no fear of uncertainty any more: the woman learned in practice as childbirth proceeds, understood that it is not so awful as she was told therefore also pain will not amplify. However, the boomerang effect is possible here if first labor was complicated. Such woman will need the correct psychological preparation, perhaps, with participation of the expert.
