When parents for the first time notice that their child lies, they often panic and do not know how to fight against a children's lie. Psychologists advise first of all to deal with the reasons of this phenomenon.
Parents need to know that the lie of preschool children does not pursue the mercenary aims. Lies of the small child can be either a consequence of active work of rich imagination, or a security measure of the little person from possible punishment or discontent from adults. Never it is necessary to punish or deride the child for rich imagination which can find the expression in the most fantastic stories. If the child, having returned from kindergarten, tells that today on walk he constructed the spaceship or saw in bushes of a live crocodile, do not hurry to accuse him of a lie. On the contrary, in detail ask him on these surprising incidents, show friendly interest. However all children's inventions cannot poke recklessly. It is not necessary to encourage imaginations which develop illusory, unrealistic idea of the child of themselves and the place in the world. If the child says: "I am a superman. I kill villains", it is desirable to correct him words: "Would you like to be a superman and to help people?". Sometimes preschool children lie, wishing to seem more attractive in the opinion of people around. From harmless imaginations the similar lie is distinguished by high degree of credibility. The similar behavior is the disturbing signal saying that the child or lacks attention, or it considers that it cannot be interesting to people around in itself. Desire to hide the offense from adults is the frequent reason of children's deception. As a rule, this desire is dictated by fear of punishment. In this case it is not necessary to press on the child and to force it to confess to deeds. Similar pressure will lead only to the fact that the child will think out to himself new false justifications. Leave it an opportunity most to recognize the offense, and having listened to recognition, surely praise the kid – the mistakes to recognize very difficult even to the adult.
