Failures in operation of the hard drive can lead to the fact that the operating system will cease to be loaded correctly. Sometimes malfunctions of the winchester are the reason of strong decline in production of the computer. The correct manipulations with disk partitions allow to correct in due time arisen failures.

Instruction
1. It is possible to replace the active section by means of standard utilities of the operating system. Naturally, this operation is feasible only if Windows is correctly loaded. Open the Control panel menu. Usually its label is located in the Start menu. Select the System or System and Safety submenu.
2. Open the Administration point. In the appeared window select a label "Control of the computer". Expand the Storage devices submenu and open the Management of Disks point. Find the necessary section of the winchester and click it with the right mouse button.
3. Select the Make the Section Active item. In the appeared window click "Yes". Reboot. Remember that the operating system will not be loaded if you select not that disk partition.
4. If you need to replace the active section without access to OS, then use the command line (Windows 7) or the recovery console (Win XP). Access to these utilities can be got by means of the Windows OS setup disks.
5. Insert the necessary disk into the drive and load the recovery console. For this purpose it is necessary to key R in the corresponding window or to select the Command line item. Wait for start of the specified utility.
6. Enter the fdisk command and click the ENTER key. Key Y for confirmation of start of the program. Now click digit opposite to which it is written "The choice of the active section".
7. Select a local disk which needs to be made active, having clicked the corresponding digit. After end of a program runtime click the ESC key.
8. Remove a work disk from the drive and reboot. Wait for loading of the operating system.
