It is required to check settings of the modem when the device was not defined at installation or problems with connection appeared. Learn data from provider, difficulties with connection can arise because of mismatch of settings.

Instruction
1. To check settings, open the Control panel tab, find it via the Start-up button. In the menu you need the Modems icon. Check modem model, correctness of the name. If these data do not match the installed equipment, start "Hardware installation wizard". Trace that the modem was connected - the device will be automatically determined.
2. If you see the list of devices, select the modem with the name suitable yours, click the Add point. If in the list of your modem it did not appear, try to install the driver of the compatible device. Check its working capacity, the name of your modem should appear in the list of devices. Delete from the list superfluous, otherwise, between drivers, there can be conflicts.
3. Make sure of availability of the equipment. Open the Control panel tab, further click the System point and find a line of "Device". Select the installed modem and click an icon with the right mouse button. Find a line of "Property" in a context menu. Check "Safety", "Network", "Access" and make sure that the device operates, connect it.
4. To check settings of port, click the Modems icon, select the installed device and find the Properties button. Further click a line "Communication installation" and check compliance of current settings of port, look at the name and data transmission rate.
5. Check settings of data transmission rate in the Modems tab, click an icon with your device, select a line of "Property". Further pass into the menu and select the General tab, set transfer rate according to opportunities of your modem. Find values in user guide delivered together with the device.
6. Click on the My Computer icon the right mouse button, select a line of "Property". Further pass into the Equipment menu and click the Device manager tab. The installed modem will be displayed in a line "Modems". Pay attention, the name and type of the modem should correspond to parameters of your equipment.
7. Right-click the button "Properties" - the General tab. Here you can look at data on your equipment, you can include, or switch-off the device.
If the equipment works unstably, start the system of debugging. Basic data on the driver are in the Modem tab, you can update it, or roll away to the previous version.
8. Pay attention to the Additional Parameters of Communication tab. Having set a line of initialization, you will provide adaptation of the modem to a specific communication link. Settings are necessary for the USB modem. Further pass into the Diagnostics menu, check correctness of settings of the modem, having clicked "Poll the Modem". Data on the modem will be displayed in the lower part of a window.
