How to close the 445th port

One of the most attacked ports of the personal computer is port 445, on it different viruses and worms most often ""break"". It is connected with the fact that it is used when accessing remote systems for data transmission on network. For the purpose of safety this port can be closed, for the same reasons also port 135 is closed.

Instruction

1. Closing of port 445.

Open the main menu of Windows "Start-up" and right-click on the My Computer icon, in the dropping-out context menu select the Properties item.

2. In the opened Properties of a System window, select the Equipment tab and press the Device manager button which is in the group of the same name.

3. The Task manager window will open. In a menu item "View" select the Show the Hidden Devices item, devices which are by default not visible to the user will be as a result displayed.

4. Open the Drivers of Devices not Plug and Play group and select the NetBios through TCP/IP device. In a window "Properties: NetBios through TCP/IP" select the Driver tab, in the section "Automatic loading" select "Is disconnected" and press the OK button.

5. It is possible to close port 445 and through the editor of the register.

Open the Start menu, select the Execute … item, in the opened window enter the Regedit command and press the OK button.

6. The Editor of the Register utility will be as a result started. In the Editing menu select the Find … item and in the search string enter TransportBindName. Click "Find further".

7. The register branch containing required parameter will be opened. Open the TransportBindName parameter double click by the right mouse button and delete its value.

8. Closing of port 135.

Start the Editor of the Register utility and find in it parameter with the name EnableDCOM. Open properties of the found parameter and assign it N value.

9. It is possible to disconnect port 135 through "Service of components". For this purpose, in the Start menu select the Execute … item and enter the line Dcomcnfg.exe.

In the left part of a window select the line "Services of Components". In the right part of a window select the Computers icon, on the toolbar click "Setup of My Computer".

10. Open the Properties by Default tab and remove the Allow to Use DCOM on This Computer check mark. Reboot, port 135 will be closed.
