Most of users possess the dynamic IP address which at each access to the network can change. There is a number of ways to define exact number of the address and to learn whether your IP is static.
Instruction
1. Define what IP address you use at connection to worldwide network it is possible having referred to the document on providing Internet communication. Find the contract which you signed with provider, and read it attentively. In the "connection type" point information on what address is provided to you at Internet connection should be specified: dynamic or static. However, number of the static IP address is not always specified in the contract.
2. Learn the IP address, having contacted directly the provider. Call or write the e-mail to technical support service of firm which provides you Internet access, and ask to provide information on number of your static IP address.
3. Use means of the Windows operating system to define the IP address. For this purpose it is necessary to start the Setup of the IP Protocol for Windows program. Enter the Start menu, select in the list the line "Execute" on the right and click it.
4. Print the cmd command in the appeared window and press the OK button. The cmd.exe file in which command line it is necessary to gather ipconfig will reveal, and then to click the ENTER key. Having performed these operations, you will see in a window of program number of the IP address, number of a subnet mask and number of the main gateway for the current connection. If you have a static IP address, its number will remain invariable at all connections.
5. Study properties of the current connection with network of your computer. For this purpose enter the Start menu click the line "Control panel" and select "Network connections". In the opened window double click a mouse on a connection icon. In the Status menu select the Support tab in which you learn number of the IP address and also number of a subnet mask and the main gateway.
