VMware is the software which allows to start virtual machines with the installed operating system. The virtual machine – the software system which allows to emulate the hardware for some platform and to create a virtual hardware environment.
It is required to you
- - VMware;
- - DVD or ISO with the operating system.
Instruction
1. Download the VMware Workstation program from the official site of the developer. Start the executable file. Setup will unpack files in the selected directory and will create virtual Ethernet-adapters which will be displayed in a system as connections.
2. After the end of installation you can start VMware through the Start-up menu or an icon on a desktop. In the appeared window it will be possible to create, connect, disconnect and configure your virtual machine. For creation pass into the File menu – New – Virtual Machine (Ctrl + N).
3. In the opened window you will be given at choice 2 options: Typical (normal installation) and Custom (independent). The Custom setup allows to configure own settings, for creation of additional machines it is possible to use only Typical. Click Next and define OS of the virtual machine.
4. On the following screen assign a name and define location of the machine. Then specify the random access memory capacity which will be selected. The more memory, the quicker it will work and here everything depends on the power of a configuration of your computer. Select such memory size which should be enough for start of the present OS. If memory on the computer is not enough, you will be able always to reduce it.
5. In the following screen configure settings of connection with the Internet. If you use a connection option through the bridge, then it will allow to provide access through virtual OS to your external channel. Click Next.
6. The screen of setup of a disk will open. Select Create a new virtual disk and click Next. Determine memory size. If volume appears insufficiently, then you will be able always to add disks for setup of the RAID configuration at any time. Click Finish. Your virtual machine is created and ready to work.
7. It is possible to install OS on the machine by means of boot DVD or an ISO image. As soon as you start a disk or an image select your virtual computer and click on a green arrow opposite to the Power On point. After inclusion the program will automatically recognize and will start the OS installation.
