Every time when we polzuyettsya by the search engine (for example, Google or Yandex), we see them – snippets. Without them it is impossible to present the modern Internet. Snippets not only "prompt" us contents of the page, but play some more important roles.
Today the word "snippet" first of all designates the short description of the website or the page in search delivery. The relevance is a compliance of the provided material (the text, the website, the image, goods, service) to initial expectations of the user.
Owners of the websites should pay attention to the snippets, the website with an informative and relevant snippet will receive more search traffic, even being in the fifth place of delivery, than the website on the first place, but with a snippet, bad and uninteresting for the user.
What is "the expanded snippet"?
In addition to standard information (heading, the description, the link) the snippet may contain also information, some other, useful to the user. Owners of the website can add it to a snippet by means of a semantic annotation.
The semantic annotation is such special program code which allows search engines "understand" better about what it is on any given page of the website.
In an expanded snippet you can see, for example, the photo of the author of the blog. Or the rating of any given goods displayed in the form of asterisks. Or the schedule of film sessions on the day of the week specified by you with indications of ticket prices.
With development of the Internet and search engines, expanded snippets support more and more different additional display formats of information.
