In the 14th century in France the alcohol received by distillation of wine was called by aqua vitae and considered the miracle medicine capable to prolong life. Under the same name it was known also in Italy. Europeans received a secret of distillation of wine from the Arab healers who possessed it in the first centuries AD. Now the grape spirit is used at production of brandy, cognac, liqueurs and tinctures.

It is required to you

  • For an elementary distillating still:
  • - glass pan;
  • - can;
  • - plate;
  • - basin;
  • - water-logged dough.
  • For a simple distillating still:
  • - 3-liter glass jar;
  • - ten-one-liter glass jar;
  • - 2 covers;
  • - thermometer;
  • - 2 tubes from special rubber or stainless steel.

Instruction

1. Elementary distillation you apparatvozmit a pan of suitable capacity, put on a pan bottom a high support - a can a bottom up, punch in support boards, is closer to a bottom, several openings that it didn't vibrate and I didn't jump up under the influence of steam. Put a plate on a support, with a diameter at 6-10 millimeters it is less, than diameter of a pan.

2. Pour wine in a pan so that the level of liquid was lower than the openings punched in boards banks, put on a pan from above a basin with cold water, miss the mark with the test a joint between a board a pan and a basin bottom with cold water. Put the device on fire. The distillation product will be condensed at the bottom of a basin and to flow down in a plate.

3. Idle time distillation you apparatvozmit two glass jars with a capacity of 10 and 3 liters, fill a half banks with a capacity of 10 liters with wine, close a stopper with two openings. Close the second can with a capacity of 3 liters the same stopper with two openings, connect, using openings in covers, both banks a tube (it has to reach almost to the bottom a small can). Insert into the second opening in a cover of a big can the thermometer, enter into the second opening in a cover of a small can a short tube for removal of excess steam outside.

4. Turn a small can a bottom up and put in the container with cold water or in a sink under a stream of flowing water. Fill a basin or a low pan with water and put on fire to make a water bath. Fill in a big can with wine to a half, put on a water bath.

5. Don't filter wine before distillation, fill in in a distillating still as is – with a residue, berries. Heat the container with wine to 65-68 °C that it began to be transformed to steam, wait until distillation product about 1-2% of initial amount of wine are gained. Collect this liquid separately - it is the first fraction, it can't be drunk and used for external application as it is harmful to a human body.

6. Replace ware in which you collect a distillation product, heat wine from 65 to 78 °C and quickly reduce heating speed, maintain a boiling point between 78 and 83 °C, suspend distillation when temperature of wine approaches 85 °C. Collect a product of the second fraction separately, it will be liquid, suitable for consumption. Lift a boiling point, finish distillation, collect a product of the third fraction, so-called "fragrant water", in separate ware.
