Bilberry is an irreplaceable source of vitamins, necessary for healthy sight. Unfortunately, any berries have property to spoil quickly therefore bilberry jam can become ideal preparation for the winter.

Classical bilberry jam

Advantage of this jam consists in its fast cooking – it is preparing exactly 5 minutes. However, on all process slightly more time as previously berries need to be washed and touched will be required.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 1 kg of bilberry;
  • 700 g of sugar.

Preparation:

Before starting preparation of jam from bilberry, berries should be washed out, touched and dried carefully. We spread the prepared bilberry in deep capacity and we fill up with granulated sugar. In such type of berry it is necessary to leave at several o'clock that they started up juice. We shift the infused berries in a pan and we cook on slow fire before boiling plus of exactly 5 minutes. We spill ready bilberry delicacy on the sterilized banks and we close covers.

Bilberry jam with rum

This jam is intended only for adults as alcohol is its part.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 1 kg of bilberry;
  • 2 tablespoons of rum;
  • 2 tablespoons of water;
  • 300 g of sugar.

Preparation:

For this recipe it is necessary to use only ripe and juicy berries, otherwise jam will turn out tasteless. We wash fresh bilberry, we touch and we dry a paper towel. We pour out the processed berries in a pan, we add a little water then slightly we press down bilberry that it started up juice.

We place a pan on slow fire and we cook berries until they don't become soft, it is constant at the same time stirring slowly. Then we add sugar to a pan – it is necessary to do it in the small portions not to interrupt boiling process. We cook bilberry weight on an extent of 5-7 minutes then we pour in it in rum and at once we remove a pan from fire. We spill hot jam on banks and we roll up. We overturn banks upside down and we wrap up with a warm blanket.

Bilberry jam without cooking

If you have no desire to stand long at a plate and to spend time for roll-in, then it is possible to make the bilberry jam which isn't demanding heat treatment.

Necessary ingredients:

  • 1 kg of bilberry;
  • 800 g of sugar.

Preparation:

We wash berries, we dry and we touch. It is necessary to select at the same time only fresh and ripe fruits, without allowing hit of the spoiled berries as they can significantly reduce a jam period of storage. We pass the prepared berries via the meat grinder. It isn't recommended to use for these purposes the blender as it will turn bilberry into homogeneous mass which doesn't suit for this recipe.

We spread the bilberry overwound via the meat grinder in a bowl and we fill up with granulated sugar. In this recipe only 800 g of sugar that the taste of jam turned out natural are used, but if desired it is possible to add more if you want to make a dessert more sweet. All ingredients are carefully mixed, we place in the sterilized jars and we close covers which should be boiled previously.
