The most part of summer residents has got used to grow up cucumbers at which stalks up to 2-3 m long creep on the ground. Some of them do not even suspect that there is more compact kind of this vegetable culture – cucumber bush.
Grades of bush cucumbers
Korotkostebelny grades of cucumbers belong to bush. Their most part is pollinated by bees and grown up by gardeners in the open ground. However there are grades which get divorced under film.
Bush cucumbers perfectly are suitable for cultivation on small sites. Selectors have removed considerable quantity of korotkostebelny grades. All their names indicate compactness of fruits and belonging to sectional version: Malyshok, "Kid", "Pudge", etc.
Features of bush cucumbers
Bushes of such cucumbers are original. Normal grades of cucumbers have strongly branching lashes more than 1 m long. At bush they do not exceed 80 cm, and more than two branches on one lash do not meet. Besides, at bush cucumber short interstices. At the expense of it it seems to more deciduous. For small bushes the formation of large number of zelents is not peculiar therefore productivity of cucumbers of this type not really high. However it is compensated by unpretentiousness of grades. Advantage is the fact that the early ripening cucumber bush gives harvest during the interval which is not exceeding 20 days. It means that fruits begin to ripen long before development of the main diseases of garden cultures. This fact allows to receive full-fledged harvest in any year. Thanks to the fact that the cucumber bush expands not so strongly processing of its row-spacings does not cause special difficulties. Fruits differ in compactness that allows them to enter any can easily. Zelentsa, picklings, the uses in salads perfectly are suitable for salting. Receiving early harvest is promoted by cultivation of cucumbers by seedling method. For this purpose it is desirable to use peat glasses. It is possible to plant seedling in soil in May-June at 20-day age. The distance between ranks at the same time has to make about 45 cm, between plants among – 25 cm. Care for bush cucumbers approximately same, as well as behind normal. In case of the clay site it is desirable to zamulchirovat the soil peat. Watering, in comparison with dlinnostebelny grades, has to be carried out slightly more often. Directly after change in soil seedling can be covered with film. It will allow to save plants from possible returnable spring cold weather. When height of cucumbers reaches film level, it should be removed to avoid burns.
