The refractory oven brick is presented at the construction market in the widest assortment now. The most running marks are ShA-8 and ShA-5 (shamotny brick). These brands are almost identical, with one exception – the brick of ShA-8 differs in bigger fire resistance, than ShA-5. The brick of shamotny type is slightly more by the sizes, than normal construction brick that significantly simplifies its laying.

Choosing brick for the furnace or fireplace, surely consider frost resistance of this construction material. This quality has to be present fully, especially in case of finding of the furnace at badly heated room. For this reason in country houses of seasonal type it is the best of all to build fireplaces and furnaces of shamotny brick. Such material practically never has high fire resistance and, does not crack under the influence of enormous temperature fluctuations. The Shamotny brick also differs in great esthetic qualities: it has bright straw-colored color which is perfectly fitting almost into any interior.

The quartz brick for the furnace can be used only where walls of the furnace adjoin to metal or fire. Such brick does not transfer contacts with lime, alkali or oxides of iron. This material is uniform in structure and has no cavities. There are two more types of brick for furnaces - carbonaceous and the main, but these types of construction material only in the industrial purposes are used.

Features of use of brick for furnaces

The oven brick has to be geometrically correct. Each stove-setter knows the price of need of observance of proportions and flatness of seams at the calculation of the furnace or fireplace. The second important factor to which it is necessary to pay attention at laying of the brick furnace, – degree of quality of water mortar. The laying has to be carried out taking into account thickness of seam of 5 mm therefore negligence is unacceptable here. Generally oven brick is laid on solution of clay type with addition of cement in it. It is the best of all to use GTs-50 or GTs-40 cement as its technical characteristics are ideal for such purposes. It is better to entrust work on brickwork to the expert of high level as the low-skilled stove-setter can perform work as inadequate image that will lead to further household problems or emergency.
