How to construct glacier

In conditions of economic situation of many Russian families the preparation for the future of food for long time is the urgent need. For storage of jam, pickles and vegetables usually use cellar, and sometimes and normal garage. And here for fish and meat products it is required if not the freezing chamber, then at least self-made glacier which will be help in household.

It is required to you

  • - metal pipes with a diameter of 100 mm;
  • - welding machine;
  • - wooden boards;
  • - concrete;
  • - slag;
  • - kerosene.

Instruction

1. Choose the place for construction cellarsglacierof -a. It can be arranged in the yard of the individual house or the dacha, having made direct entrance, or under half of economic buildings. The sizes of glacier are individual and will be defined first of all by your needs for storage of products.

2. Dig out hole of the necessary sizes in the place chosen by you, having made it is 100 cm more than future cellar glacier on width and length, and in depth – is 50 cm deeper. It is not required to increase depth, however, if you decide to make not concrete, but earth floor in glacier.

3. Make capacity for kerosene, using the metal pipes with a diameter about 100 mm fastened with welding. Lay frame from pipes on glacier bottom perimeter. Pipes of capacity have to be not less than in 15 cm from hole walls. In the middle of frame weld in in design two struts from the same pipes. Height of struts make such that after charge of soil of pipe would act approximately on 30 cm.

4. Fill the tank manufactured thus from pipes with kerosene. Put on covers from polyfoam (covers are necessary in warm season, for the winter they need to be removed) the external top ends of pipes. The operation principle of glacier consists in cold accumulation in the winter and its preservation in warm season.

5. In hole build the timbering corresponding to the freezing chamber size from boards and then fill in timbering with concrete. Thickness of future concrete walls has to be not less than 50 cm. Such walls provide reliable freezing of glacier.

6. Insert double door unit for two doors. The design of the block will be defined by the planned arrangement of entrance to cellar (sideways or from above). Thickness of the top floor make about 40 cm. From above overlappings fill warming from slag.

7. For the best isolation between concrete walls and soil fill layer from slag 25 cm thick. On condition of good thermal insulation of concrete from soil on each side and from above, there will be enough cold which is saved up in concrete walls of glacier till the end of the summer period. The described design of glacier allows to store reliably meat and fish products during the whole year.
