How to eliminate leak in heating radiator

How to eliminate leak in heating radiator

At long operation of heating system in pipes and radiators because of internal influence of rust there can be leak or fistulas. In pig-iron radiators the small fistulas after shutdown of supply of hot water are ready copper electrodes. In steel radiators the fistulas are ready by means of normal electrodes.

Instruction

1. In certain cases the leak can be very strong and if independently there is no opportunity to eliminate fault, call in emergency service. Before arrival of the mechanic it is better to cover the battery from which whips boiled water with big blanket and to densely press it. The battery will not begin to leak less, but there will be opportunity to approach the battery, without being afraid to scald boiled water and to remove water.

2. It is much easier to cope with problem if the pipe in position of joint with the battery flows, then by means of piece of dense rubber and wire the appeared hole can be closed before arrival of team of experts. Completely it is possible to eliminate leak if near at hand there is metal collar.

3. In case the battery leaks on joint between sections a little, it is possible to redress densely the emergency place the fabric soaked in heat-resistant and moisture resistant glue. After glue hardens, the opening in radiator will be reliably closed

4. On sale there are powder and polymeric sealants by means of which leaks in radiators temporarily are eliminated. The principle of work of such sealant is based on polymerization at the time of touch with air. Sealant does not evaporate, maintains high temperature and interferes with emergence of leak further.

5. To flow in steel pipes it is possible to make independently if there are skills of work with the welding machine. Before welding of pipe are exempted from water. If on pipe the big opening, on this site is welded pad from steel sheet. During operating time with electric welding do not forget to ground the welding machine in order to avoid electric shock.
