Designers call the long narrow rooms received as a result of illiterate re-planning or negligence of architects "cars" or "cases". 1. Do not build all furniture along walls. So you will only emphasize disgarmonichnost of space and will leave absolutely narrow pass. It is necessary to use actively short wall, having installed the TV, rack, musical instrument or low sofa there. Quite often in the distant end of the narrow room the window is located. In that case, the long eaves for curtains which will go beyond window frame will help "to move apart" walls and to visually broaden the room.
2. Zone the room. Even if the room is not too big, it can be divided conditionally into two parts, each of which will have more correct outlines. You should not put up additional walls and to do border too rigid. Visually the easy open rack put perpendicular to one of long walls, the bar counter established similarly or the narrow console can separate one part of space from another. Also glass screen, translucent tulle or rope curtain will help to zone the room. Each of parts of the room has to have the function. In the zone located closer to door it is possible to arrange cabinets and chairs, and to make distant part of the room more intimate.
3. Play with texture and color. For finishing of walls choose two types of wall-paper or paint: quiet tone and more saturated. It is possible to paint both short walls or one short wall bright color and adjacent to it long. It will complicate space and will break linearly set prospect. Instead of bright paint it is possible to use wall-paper with the large active drawing or decorative plaster. Combine different types of finishing, having painted all walls with paint, and having decorated one wall-paper or having upholstered with fabric.
4. Use mirrors. The big mirror can take the place on long wall, having visually broadened the room. It is possible to frame with also narrow panels from floor to ceiling the TV or sofa at the left and on the right. And here on short wall use of mirrors is extremely not desirable: they will visually prolong "corridor". Photowall-paper in all wall can also create illusion that the space is wider, than is actually. Best of all photos with prospect, for example, black-and-white city landscapes will approach.
