Basil, district honing tool, Reagan, "royal grass" – different names of the annual grassy plant having strong spicy aroma. The basil is perfectly combined with various spices and other spicy herbs, applied at preparation of vegetable salads, meat and fish dishes, marinades, fillings, used both in fresh, and in dried look. He is unpretentious, can grow on garden sites, in hotbeds and greenhouses, on room windowsills.

Instruction
1. It is possible to grow up basil on windowsill all the year round. However culture this thermophilic, sensitive to amount of light and duration of daylight hours. Place container with plant on windowsill on sunny side of the apartment. During the autumn-winter period provide dosvechivaniye – 3-4 hours in evening, and in cloudy weather and in the afternoon. Use for this purpose phytolamps or daylight lamps. During the spring and summer period the dosvechivaniye is not required.
2. Prepare capacity for landing. It can be small boxes or flower pots. Consider, however, what from small container of plant should be replaced as bushes grow rather volume, and over time they will begin to interfere with each other.
3. On bottom of capacity place drainage – layer of haydite 2-3 cm thick. Then soil layer. Take mix of biohumus and coir fiber in the ratio 1:2 or the normal garden earth, previously having enriched it with minerals. Use for this purpose universal fertilizers for vegetable cultures.
4. The easiest way of cultivation – cherenkovaniye. You can take shanks from bed or use the escapes bought in shop, of course, if they are fresh. Shanks easily take roots. Put them in the container with water. In several days they will get own roots, and in about 2 weeks they can be replaced in pot.
5. To grow up basil from seeds more time will be required. However you will much longer as the plants which are grown up from shanks pretty fast blossom use such bush and cannot be used in food any more.
6. Before landing to couple of hours wet seeds in potassium permanganate solution. Sow basil to the damp earth on depth no more than 1 cm. Cover capacity with cellophane film. Shoots will appear in 3-5 days. Replace to the constant place of plant after emergence of 3-4 real leaves.
7. The basil needs daily, though not too abundant watering. The soil has to be moderately damp. It is desirable to water in the morning. Optimum temperature for growth of 25 OS. For maintaining aroma tear off peduncles at once as soon as they appear.
