1. It is necessary to begin to be engaged in preparation of grapes for winter in September, at once after harvesting. In the middle of the month carry out cutting. Cut excess escapes, leaving three otplodonosivshy rods. Them them it is necessary to truncate everyone to 1.5 - 1 m, after cutting on escape there have to be from five to ten kidneys.
2. It is abundant water grapes. Even if the fall rainy, will be necessary to it moisture. In total under each bush it is necessary to pour out up to 20 buckets of water. The soil has to become impregnated properly with moisture, and in the winter its heat will help to warm grapes roots.
3. In October, with approach of the first frosts start creation of the warm shelter for grapes. There are several ways of creation of the shelter. The first of them — earthing up. It is suitable for young saplings of the first year of landing. Around rod chopper make hillock which will protect plant from destruction by frost.
4. Young escapes can also be covered with hay or straw, but this way has essential shortcoming. Mice can make in such shelter of the slot and damage grapes. It is also possible to cover escapes and other improvised materials: rags, old jackets, bags or oriental carpet, that is all what will be near at hand.
5. Previously remove sprouts of adult plants from lanes, tear off all leaves and connect by twine. Under bushes lay dry leaves, sawdust, hay or straw and lay the connected rod on this improvised warm pillow. From above cover with pieces of roofing material or film and fix design by boards. At such shelter, grapes will be most protected from frosts, but also this way has shortcoming. 6. The best shelter is snow in the winter therefore it is necessary to establish the wooden boards about 1.5 m high at distance of 2 m from landings of grapes. It is great way for snow retention. If nevertheless snow is not enough or constantly blows it from the place of landings of grapes, then during the winter pour and condense it by means of shovel.
7. If you plan or grow up the whole plantation of grapes, then to lower labor costs in the fall and to help grapes to winter, try to carry out the buried landing to trench. Before disembarkation of grapes dig ditch of 30 in depth and 50 cm wide, in it plant grapes saplings. Strengthen walls of trench boards. In the fall after harvesting and preparation of rod for winter, remove escapes from support, connect them, lay in groove and cover with earth. This way will allow to protect reliably roots and escapes of grapes from destruction by frost in the winter and perishings in the spring.
