How to reinforce concrete slab

At independent construction of residential building or farm building there can be need of filling of floor. That it has turned out strong, it needs to be strengthened reinforcing.

It is required to you

  • - concrete;
  • - armature;
  • - wire with a diameter of 1-2 mm;
  • - polyethylene pipes;


1. To make strong concrete slab, to you, first of all, need quality concrete. Count its necessary volume: if you are able to lay 4-5 cubes of concrete in several hours, then it is more favorable to order it at the concrete plant. Smaller volumes to you will hardly bring, in this case concrete should be prepared independently.

2. Use only qualitative components for concrete preparation. Buy cement from the famous suppliers working at the market not one year. Buy sand only river, without clay impurity. Crushed stone is necessary gravel or granite.

3. Kneading concrete, precisely observe proportions of components. It is the simplest to measure volumes buckets: on bucket of cement take two buckets of sand, three buckets of crushed stone and 0.7 buckets of water. Carefully mix mix before receiving homogeneous mass.

4. Make timbering for the filled-in plate, prepare armature for its strengthening. It is desirable to use armature with the ridge surface providing good coupling with concrete. If smooth armature is applied, its ends need to be bent. Usually at construction armature with a diameter of 10, 12, 14, 16 mm from steel of the A500C and 35GS brands is used.

5. It is very important to arrange correctly armature in the filled-in plate. It is the best of all to connect framework from armature, using wire with a diameter of 1-2 mm for tying. The framework has to be in the volume of plate and not come out anywhere. When filling it can be suspended on wire or to enclose from below inserts 2-3 cm thick. From above armature has to become covered by concrete layer of the same thickness.

6. The best strength indicators are provided by the space framework occupying almost all volume of plate. If you lay several pieces of armature on the center of plate, it will almost not add it durability. Ranks of the connected armature have to be in upper part of plate and in lower. Than further the top and lower ranks will defend from each other, that high strength of plate. But at the same time over framework and under it there has to be concrete layer not less than 2 cm thick.

7. The central part of plate almost does not influence its durability therefore in it emptiness can be made. It is the simplest to create them by laying in framework of polyethylene pipes. The plate in this case will turn out much easier.

8. After concrete grabs, water it. Humid environment helps concrete to reach the maximum durability. It is possible to cover the cast plate with wet burlap, bast mat and to sustain so not less than two-three days. The cast plate will reach full durability approximately in month.
