Alocasia – one of representatives of the Aroidnykh family. Flower growers have fallen in love with this tropical plant for its huge leaves with bright streaks having big decorative effect. That the alocasia pleased with juicy greens, it needs to be replaced in due time. As a rule, it needs to be done annually and it is desirable in the spring. Change of this plant has the nuances which should be observed strictly.

Instruction
1. Pick up pot for alocasia. It is better to stop the choice on the high and not too wide capacity as roots at this plant very long. If to place it in low and wide pot, transfer in new capacity very quickly will be required. Do not forget that the pot has to be on couple of centimeters in the diameter more old. Landing in very big capacity is extremely undesirable as the soil will long dry out why there can be its souring. All this is essential to slow down growth of alocasia which roots are extremely sensitive to overwetting.
2. Make drainage holes in pot. Not in all flowerpots they initially are available. As a rule, in ceramic they already are. In plastic pot of opening it is possible to make by means of the heated nail.
3. Pick up substrate for alocasia. It is possible to buy already ready soil for Aroidny in specialized shop. But it is better to prepare it independently. Substrate for this plant has to be easy and air. As basis any nutritious soil can act. Add to it the sifted sand, moss sphagnum and vermiculite to proportions 1:0,3:0,3:0,3. Carefully mix everything.
4. Extremely accurately take out alocasia from old pot. It is important not to damage its roots. If you replace plant for the first time after purchase, shake soil from roots and pay attention to their basis. At detection of fabric cover remove it.
5. Examine roots. They have to be dense, elastic and light. Rotten, dry and gray roots need to be cut off as they are the dead. The place of cut can be powdered pounded activated carbon.
6. Prepare drainage. Wash out haydite under flowing water and lay it on pot bottom. Drainage height, as a rule, is about 2-3 centimeters. Fill on drainage of a little prepared substrate and place on it alocasia. Then around fill with soil all intervals between roots of plant and walls of pot. At falling asleep of substrate you watch that the root neck of alocasia has not been buried. It has to be in one level with soil.
7. Do not water alocasia at once after change. Watering should be made only when soil dries out on third of capacity of pot. If to make change strictly according to this instruction, the alocasia in several days will actively be started up in growth.
