The grade of pear of Velez has been included in the State register of selection achievements rather recently in 2001. In only two decades kultivar it became popular among gardeners. Pear of Velez: description and features of grade
Kultivar of "Velez" has been received by means of hybridization of grades "The forest beauty" and Venus. From the ancestors pear has inherited all best. Velez it is resistant to fungal diseases and scab. The plant has excellent frost resistance and drought resistance. Pear quite fruitful, from one tree it is possible to collect up to 80 kg of perfect fruits.
In height the tree reaches 4 m. Leaves have the elongated and oval form, their surface smooth and brilliant, edges slightly curved. Fruits of the correct form reach weight in 120 g. Coloring of thin skin chartreuse with orange flank. Juicy and gentle pulp. Fruits sweet with small sourness.
The main advantage of grade, according to experienced gardeners, is its samoplodnost. Unlike other pears near Velesa it is not necessary to land other kultivara. But the productivity can be increased considerably if nearby pears of such grades as Rogneda, "Just Maria", Chizhovskaya, "Voskresensky large" or "Northerner" grow.

To receive excellent harvest of sweet pears of Velez, it is necessary to follow several rules at care for plant. When choosing the place for landing of kultivar consider that culture is shade-loving. Pick up it the site protected from all directions from impact of cold winds. Pear does not transfer stagnation of water therefore it is necessary to place sapling in such place where the close groundwater occurrance is excluded.
"Velez" land pear on light fertile soil with the level of acidity 5.5 — 6.0. Ideal option is sandy loam mix with the chernozem, but also disembarkation on the loamy soil at annual application of fertilizers is possible.
It is the best of all to land pear in the spring. Optimum time for landing is the middle of April — the beginning of May. Autumn landing is undesirable as the sapling can freeze.
About landing of pear of Velez step by step
- Beforehand prepare landing pole of 50 — 60 cm in depth, with a diameter of 70 — 80 cm. Dig out it in the fall or at least in 2 — 3 weeks prior to work. For this term the soil will manage to sink.
- Establish basic peg on the center of pole.
- Mix the soil with compost, humus in equal proportions.
- On bottom of landing hole fill drainage crushed stone layer. On it pour out 2-3 buckets of nutritious substrate.

Care for pear: forming and watering
Pear of "Velez" needs to be formed correctly. It will help to avoid diseases, to regulate productivity and to increase the size of fruits and their sugar content. You carry out the forming cutting in March in the first 4 years after landing. At two-year sapling choose the central conductor and 2–4 well developed branches. Truncate the main escape on 20 cm, side - on third, and cut the others completely on ring.
The next year begin forming of the second tier. Leave two most powerful branches growing above the first tier and cut off them at identical height.
