Plastic pipes release circular or rectangular cross section. The second option is more preferable since rectangular products are not so noticeable in interior of kitchen, it is easier to disguise them. Both that and other type of pipe is "passed" most often over kitchen hinged cabinets which in whole or in part hide air duct. Buying plastic pipe, do not forget to buy in passing-shaped transitions for conclusion to ventilating duct and sealant for connections. The main plus plasticity – lack of slots and minimum of noise during the work.
Pluses of the corrugated air duct costing cheaper than plastic consist in ease of mounting and lack of need of acquisition of adapters: the pipe fastens to extract and ventilating duct by means of collars. To define what length the pipe is necessary, it should be stretched at all length; if to leave folds, then noise level when passing air stream considerably will increase.
Design features of air ducts
Diameter of air duct has to be more than diameter of exit of extract or correspond to it. Otherwise the system effectiveness will fall, and load of it will grow, noise will increase. When mounting you watch that there were as little as possible bends; each turn reduces extract efficiency approximately by 10%. That air from the outside did not get to ventilation system, provide installation of valves: filmy or plastic (on axis). If you have the second version of the valve, then it is necessary to establish it strictly in vertical position, otherwise the disk when passing stream will clap. Air duct length 3 m is considered optimum; increase in this value leads to falling of efficiency (5-10% for each additional meter).
