Still quite recently installation of electric sockets in bathrooms of apartments of standard planning was not provided. Household washing machines could not be placed in them, and electric heated towel rails and water heaters were not on sale. Today installation of sockets in the bathroom – the urgent need.
Possibilities of placement of the socket in the bathroom
In terms of electrical safety the bathroom – not the most suitable place for installation of sockets because of the increased humidity in this room. Therefore at installation it is necessary to observe special precautions and to consider what devices will be connected to the power supply network.
The electrical wiring in the bathroom has to be hidden and have grounding. All position of joints of wires need to be isolated carefully. The place for the socket needs to be chosen taking into account safety zones. So, in bathtub and the washbasin it is forbidden to use any electric devices. At distance of 0.6 m from cranes it is possible to install only water heaters which body has to be surely grounded.
At distance of 1.2 m from cranes it is possible to mount lamps II of class of protection equipped with the switch in the form of lace and also exhaust fans. Installation of sockets on walls where condensate is constantly formed is not allowed. The body of electric sockets has to be not lower than IV classes of moisture protection, they are equipped with the covers and special sealants which are doing not pass moisture.
Installation of normal electric sockets is allowed not closer, than at distance of 2.4 m from cranes.
As it is correct to install the socket in the bathroom
In houses of old construction in bathrooms the grounding has not been provided therefore, doing repair, take care of replacement of old electrical wiring by three-wire with double isolation and the protective conductor. In this case it has to be allocated in separate group, tension eyeliner to which is carried out on separate three-phase cable. Provide installation of automatic shutdown. On sockets which will be mounted in the bathroom there has to be third grounding contact. It is impossible to use metal pipes or construction armature as grounding.
If in the bathroom there is washing machine, install the device of protective shutdown working at current intensity no more than 10 mA.
At installation of sockets consider the power rating of those electric devices which will be connected to them. The choice of section of wire and maximum current in the socket should be made taking into account that the starting current at launch of the engine of the washing machine can be several times more rated. Marking of electric sockets shows the maximum allowed operating voltage.
