As Africa can develop

As Africa can develop

At considerable number of people Africa is associated with poverty, civil wars and the humanitarian disasters. However the countries of this continent are called not for nothing developing - considerable part of them tries to find the place on the modern world scene in economic and political sense.

Political prospects of the region

Modern Africa is characterized by a large number of the authoritarian and totalitarian regimes and also the difficult relations between the states and ethnic groups in them. Especially painful are conflicts between white minority and the black majority. However it is possible to note that the authoritarianism optional has to become fundamentals of the African policy of the future. The revolutions which took place in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya ended with political changes which, however, it is impossible to call establishment of completely democratic management.

Most likely, the way of democratic reforms for the African countries will be long, however for it there are all prerequisites, in particular, existence of a large number of the young able-bodied population wishing carrying out reforms, decline in unemployment and more fair division of riches within the country. It is also possible to speak about increase in the level of development of the human capital in Africa over time - even in the poorest countries the number of illiterate decreases and the number of the people who graduated school increases. The increasing education of the population and its aspiration to improve the life can become the engine of reforms. However for the Muslim African countries there is a danger of radicalization of religious movements that already took place in Mali.

More active intervention of the international structures in the internal and external conflicts in Africa will be able to improve a political situation in the African countries.

What will be the African economy

The modern African economy substantially keeps on production of raw material resources and agriculture. It is possible to assume that with an agriculture intensification the number occupied in this sector will begin to decrease while mining industry will keep the positions. China and India - the states with the growing industrial production will become the main investors in the African mining industry, most likely. China invests not the first decade means in extraction of minerals and other spheres of economy of Africa, however so far concedes in the investments to Europe and the USA. Over time this ratio can change.

In case of rise in price of labor in China the transfer of a part of foreign productions to the African countries is possible.

At the same time, development of hi-tech productions in Africa will be slowed down because of political instability and a shortcoming of highly skilled workers. Involvement of foreign experts, including from among those who were born in the developed countries in families with the African roots can become the decision. Thus, it is possible to conclude that development of the African economy which gain even about time of crisis was not less than 5% has to bring Africa out of position of the poorest continent. Of course, it will occur if the African countries in the policy adhere to a way of stabilization and democratization of a situation that will make investments into the African economy less risky.
