Patina is an oxidic film which is formed on the surface of metal or a tree eventually. In many cases it is considered ornament and can significantly raise the product price. Modern methods of processing allow will raise dust this film for very short time.
Copper patina
Copper - non-ferrous metal which is oxidized under the influence of air or water. From the chemical point of view it means that metal becomes covered by an oxidic film which protects it from aggressive environmental impact. At first there are small pinkish spots. Then there comes the stage of oxidation and rustiness. The subject becomes henna-red, and then chestnut. In a final stage the oxidation introduces gray-green patterns from spots on the surface of metal. Process of oxidation can be interrupted at any time. Natural process of oxidation takes from five to fourteen years, depending on amount of dioxide of sulfur in the atmosphere. It can be accelerated. Try to obtain such effect by means of production oxidizers on the basis of the diluted sulfuric acid. It is very harmful to the person therefore all process is carried out in the isolated and well aired rooms.
Coloring by patina of surfaces
The patina applied on the painted surfaces in the form of polishing can give to the room a noble look. It can be done and with the house which was built relatively recently. Even the most ordinary construction takes a form of the estate of a noble noble family. Coloring process by patina usually consists of several steps. At first the layer of basic paint is put. Then put with a sponge or a rag a layer of the oxidizer mixed with paint in the ratio one to three. At the same time color of paint has to be on two or three shades more dark, than the main layer. Putting patina does not pursue any practical aim because it practically differs in nothing from usual paint.
Patina on metals
The type of the exposed to the wind, rusted metal is one of types of finishing which is very popular among admirers of old times. Finishing under reddish-yellow metal can be made by means of commercial sets of paints which can be bought in household shops. Special equalizers of surfaces with the subsequent drawing a pattern are used to creation of rusty metal stains of patina on wooden or clay surfaces.
Patina on clay or a stone
Under adverse conditions the clay and stone constructions in a garden become covered with natural patina which represents a green raid from lichens with white marks. They are usually evenly distributed on all surface. This effect can be simulated by means of the liquid consisting of water and latex paint in a proportion one to two. It is applied by means of a sponge, creating appearance of natural patina on pots, garden sculptures and elements.
