- - water;
- - sea water;
- - peat from the sea coast;
- - wooden sticks.
Instruction
1. Use one of ancient ways of receiving salt of sea water. Find the place on the coast where water reaches only for a short time, and the most part of a season of a current and winds leave this piece of the coast without water. Fence with the stones fastened with clay or boards the small pool not to allow water to leave with an outflow, wait for evaporation of water and collect salt from a dock apron.
2. Try to apply other ancient way of receiving salt. If on the coast there are peat deposits as on the coast of the Baltic Sea, salt can be "burned out" from the pieces of peat impregnated with sea water. Wait for bad weather when a storm drives water to peat bogs, then when water leaves, dig out peat, burn it, accurately collect ashes and pour out in water, evaporate the turned-out solution.
3. Apply a similar way: impregnate with sea water wooden sticks, thrust sticks near the coast, let's become impregnated with water, then dry up sticks in the sun, burn on a shive, accurately collect ashes, dissolve in water, evaporate solution.
4. Purify the received salt: dissolve it in fresh water and evaporate a brine. In laboratories the way of saturation of strong salt solution by chloride hydrogen is also applied, at the same time salt is purified from impurity of salts of sulfuric acid and from chloride of potassium and drops out in a deposit. For receiving cubic crystals of anhydrous salt, collect the dropped-out deposit, calcinate, dissolve in fresh water and evaporate.
