Not all know that the ellipse and an oval are different geometrical figures though externally they also are similar. Unlike an oval, the ellipse has regular shape and to draw it by means of only one compasses it will not turn out.
It is required to you
- - paper;
- - pencil;
- - ruler;
- - compasses.
Instruction
1. Take paper and a pencil, draw two straight lines perpendicular each other. Put compasses in a point where they are crossed, and draw two circles of different diameter. At the same time the smaller circle will have diameter equal to width, that is, a small axis of an ellipse, and the big circle will correspond to length, that is, a bigger axis.
2. Divide a big circle into twelve equal parts. Straight lines which will pass through the center connect the points of divisions which are located opposite. As a result you divide a smaller circle into twelve equal pieces too.
3. Number. Make it so that the highest point in a circle was called a point 1. Further from points on a big circle you draw vertical lines down. At the same time miss points 1, 4, 7 and 10. From the points on a small circle corresponding to points on a circle big carry out tenches across who will be crossed with verticals.
4. Connect points of a smooth curve where verticals and horizontals and points 1, 4, 7, 10 on a small circle are crossed. Correctly constructed ellipse turned out.
5. Try also one more way of creation of an ellipse. On paper draw a rectangle with height and width equal to height and width of an ellipse. Draw two crossed lines which will divide a rectangle into four parts.
6. Compasses draw a circle which will cross the long line in the middle. At the same time put a compasses core in the center of side of a rectangle. Radius of a circle has to be equal to a half of length of side of a figure.
7. Note points in which the circle crosses the vertical average line, thrust in them two pins. In the end of the average line put the third pin, tie all rub a linen thread.
8. Take out the third pin, on its place put a pencil. You draw a curve, using a thread tension. The ellipse will turn out if all actions were made correctly.
